ABOUT US
Caterpillars is a happy and sociable Pre-School which is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm in school term times. We are able to care for all children from 2 years until they reach compulsory school age.
We offer Government funding which is available to all children in the funding period following their third birthday and entitles each child to access 15 hours of free education per week.
ACCOMMODATION
Our Pre-School is located within the grounds of Wylye Valley Primary School set in the beautiful surroundings of the Wiltshire countryside. The building is specifically designed for early years children and the accommodation enables us to cater for our two years olds in their own room, separate from the older three and four year olds.
REGISTRATION
We are registered with and regulated by OFSTED who regularly inspect and give judgement on our establishment to ensure that the high standards of care, learning and development we endeavour to achieve are upheld. We are also members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, the leading educational charity which specialises in early years and benefit hugely from the many resources that they have to offer, from sourcing information to addressing specific training needs.
OUR STAFF
All staff members are fully qualified Early Years Childcare Practitioners; they are all experienced and dedicated to the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and uphold a carefully planned curriculum with a view to each individual child’s progression through structured learning goals. Moreover, we all have a very down-to-earth and ‘common sense’ approach; each of us having children of our own and being fortunate enough to have been brought up with a high standard of values and principles that apply in real life.
We share an excellent working relationship, not only within our own team but also that of the committee and the families who attend Caterpillars.
Our curriculum standards are set following The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which enables us to deliver a high standard of development, learning and care to our children.
Through a system of careful planning, which is completed weekly using observations taken on the children, we are able to provide a curriculum which not only enhances their academic progression but also takes into account the children’s emotional development; we understand that well adjusted children are more likely to thrive in a challenging academic environment later on in life.
We effectively operate a ‘key person’ system at Caterpillars whereby each child is supported in developing their potential at their own pace. As mentioned, our planning is the result of all that we observe from the children with their interests being taken into account. By insuring we plan for developmentally appropriate activities with the correct level of adult support, we are able to encourage each child’s learning and development as set out in the EYFS.
